The Race to the Bottom: Finding the Coldest Temperature Possible with Holly Middleton-Spencer, PhD Student, School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, Newcastle University.

There’s a race on: To get the coldest temperatures possible in a laboratory. In this free public talk, Holly Middleton Spencer will explore the challenges faced by scientists trying to reach these extremely low temperatures. On the way, she’ll explain how Quantum Mechanics dictates that there must be a coldest possible temperature possible and the experimental discovery of BEC (Bose-Einsteins condensates).
