#CyberSciBar is a series of free, online science-themed talks.
Species are still declining despite global agreements to halt extinctions. The Convention on Biological Diversity, a UN treaty signed by most countries, has failed to meet a single target by 2020.
In 2021, a new set of goal and targets will be agreed on. In this talk, Research Associate Dr Rike Bolam will review what progress has been made towards previous commitments, for example by preventing some bird and mammal extinctions in recent decades. She’ll then talk about what is necessary to scale up these actions to preventing future extinctions by 2050.
